Rebecca's Blog from Billings

Did you know?

A few years ago five schools in Billings had no breakfast program at all. That changed when the new Sodexo manager arrived. Sid Taylor has flipped three schools in the year and half he has been here. It hasn’t been easy by far and we still have two more to go. One has agreed to start traditional breakfast in the upcoming Fall. All five schools have traditional breakfast.

During my AmeriCorps service with Montana No Kid Hungry, I am trying to help those schools transition to an alternative breakfast model. Although starting traditional breakfast is a huge triumph, it’s not always the most effective approach to reach the maximum number of students. By offering an alternative breakfast model, we hope to increase breakfast participation. I am looking forward to taking on this endeavor this year and hope to have the best results come out of it.
