April's Blog from Troy

As the snow accumulates outside my window, the fall-out from my transportation dilemma piles up as well. The recent breakdown of my truck forced me to walk in freezing temperatures on icy streets. Meeting the challenges of my service this year necessitates mobility - my plan to get a Breakfast After the Bell program established in Libby depends on it! Even small tasks like putting up flyers on bulletin boards in Troy for the upcoming food drive becomes extremely problematic without a vehicle...

So, in search of reliable transportation, I took a couple days off and hitched a ride with a friend to Libby. While there, I ran into Tim, a car dealer with a big heart, who, after convincing me to sit in for his wounded partner in a pool tournament, agreed to help me in my quest. We both agreed I definitely need a 4-wheel drive in this snowy weather, but getting a decent truck or SUV financed on a volunteer's living allowance can prove very difficult! And, with the onset of winter, these vehicles are in high demand. As the search continues for a dependable truck in my price range (a tall order to be sure), I realize the blessing of a friend like Tim in my corner! The saga continues!

 Until next time...

Your comrade in arms,

April Turnage
